Deep water responce

Deep Water
What was that one thing you were afraid of when you were a little kid? Was it being afraid of the dark, or the basement? In the story, Deep Water, by William O. Douglas, a boy sometimes called skinny legs, has a massive fear of drowning. He then later overcomes it by facing his fears, and taking a chance.
The author was trying to get across that if you are ever troubled of something, you should always try to overcome it. You will be very proud of yourself in the end when you do. This is what happened in this story. There was a boy who overcomes his fear, by taking chances.
Go back to the time when you were at a fair as a little kid, and all your friends when going to go on this one really big and scary ride. But you turned to them and said that you weren’t going to go on it. When they went on without you, you probably felt left out, thinking to yourself when its all over, “ I should have gone on that ride”. This is how William in the story felt. He was sick of being to scared to swim, so he finally made a change. He tried to go swimming, and eventually got over the fear of drowning. William learned that you need to take chances in your life, and you should never regret it. Life is full of risks, if you don’t take any, you will never live.
Next time, when you are afraid to do something, just don’t be. Take a chance and you will overcome it. Never give up on it ether. Never say, I cant do it. The only thing between you and your fear is yourself!

Kino was lying in bed the next morning, thinking about what had happened those pas weeks. He thought about how much he had hurt his friends and family because of the pearl. He was singing his favorite hymn in his head. Trying to get back to the good old days, before this evil pearl got into his life. This song ran through his head: Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand, I am tired, I am week, I am lone through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand precious Lord, lead me home. That was Juana’s favorite song too. They would always sing it with each other. This song is kind of like what is happening in his life right now. The pearl is eating him alive, and it will never stop until he gets rid of it. The pearl was a part of him and Kino also knew that if he threw away the pearl he would throw away apart himself. He then thought about what was best for his wife, Juana. Throwing away the pearl would make them stronger. Kino laid in bed thinking about what he was going to do. Whatever it was, it was going to be one of the biggest decisions of his life. Soon the sun was starting to come over the tall mountains.
Once he was finally thinking of throwing away the pearl, his mind went right back to loving to pearl more than anyone in the world. Then Juana woke up. “Take Kino and go hide over that hill. I think someone is coming! Now go, I will bring my gun and see if I can find anyone. If I do, their dead." Kino said, trying to act like he didn't say something that could change his life. " No! You already killed someone Kino! You will not put this family in even more danger!" Juana said with tears running down her cheek. Slap! Kino slapped his wife right across the face. Her mother had always told her, " If a man physically hurts you, leave and never give him a second chance, because he will do it again. " Juana thought of this, and that’s just what she did. Took Cyotito and left, she never came back.
Kino just let his wife leave. He picked hunting over her. He grabbed extra bullets and went out the door. He saw Juana running over a hill in the distance with Cyotito.
He had been walking for about fifteen minutes, looking for someone to kill. But he felt like someone was following him. He turned around and made sure no one was. He walked back for about five minutes, and didn't find anyone. Now he started walking east for another ten minutes and turned around. Bang! A bullet went in his back. He fell to the ground, making a pool of blood. He was starting to lose sight, but could see the doctor with a gun in one hand and Juana in the other. Juana was holding Cyotito. The doctor grabbed the pearl out of Kinos hand and then held a gun up to Cyotito. Kino lost vision but could still hear the doctors laughter and Jaunas cries for help. Bam! Cyotito fell to the ground. Bam! Juana fell to the ground. Their whole family was dead, all because of a pearl of the world.

The Pearl Response
Remember when you were a little kid, and you got a new toy on your birthday and you would never let anyone play with it? In this book, The Pearl, by John Steinbeck, a father named Kino cherishes a pearl beyond anything. Kino explains to everyone what he will get after his pearl is sold. All of what Kino wants to do with the money of the pearl, after if it is sold is for his family, “We will be married-in the church… We will have new cloths… A rifle, perhaps a rifle… My son will go to school.” You may think that Kino’s most important value is his family since what he is going to do is for them, except he actually is doing it for himself. Kino tries to prove to Juana he can sell it and wants to prove to her that the pearl will bring good fortune. After all, Kino did mention, “This pearl has become my soul. If I give it up I shall lose my soul.”
When you were a little kid, you would grow out of that toy after a year, when you got something new and better. But in this story Kino never grows out of loving the pearl. He ends up killing his young son. The pearl took over his life. This story is like a famous movie I have seen. It is like, The Lord of the Rings. Gollam is so obsessed with a ring that he kills himself for it.  Nether Kino or Gollam made a good decision. They ended up ether killing them or killing someone they really loved.

In the story, the pearl, by John Steinbeck,  a family is struggling with financial problems, and trying to take care of their child, who got bit by a scorpion. I do not like this story because it is way too slow, and I don’t want to keep reading it. I would give this book two out of five stars. I do not like books with bad endings, and based on this books symbolism, the book is going to end bad for this family.

Will THE PEARL DESTROY THE FAMILY?

In The Pearl, by John Steibeck, a family living in Mexico  has been struggeling with financial problems their whole life. Then a new baby is brought into the family. To make there life harded, the young baby gets bit by a scorpion. They called a docter right away, but the doctor refused to give the baby treatment, because of the familys race and financial problems..The father, named Kino found a pearl while fishing. The pearl is beginning to destroy him and his family, he is falling in love with the pearl, and I think it will take the good out of him. He describes the pearl as "beautiful and that it glimmers In the light". In this story the pearl will over take Kino and his family because he will put the pearl ahead of himself and his family. Kino would probably protect the pearl with his life. I think Kino will give the pearl to the doctor to cure his baby, or hide the pearl. This story is not going to be a happy ending.  I really hope this story ends good for their family, but according to the symbolism, this story is going to end very bad. This pearl is too powerful for Kino and his family and their family is going to fall apart.
