Don't Hate!

Authors note: A lot of times I hear people say that volleyball is such an easy and boring sport. In this essay, I explain how it’s not as easy and it is one of the most fun sports out there.

Thwack! You hear the sound of a hand slapping against a volleyball that is 25 feet away from your face. In less than a second, that ball will come flying towards you at 60 miles per hour. You’re in the championship game at a tournament. The score is 23-24 and you are losing by one point. This second can determine the game. Will you be able to pass that ball up to your go? Or will the ball strike the floor and will you lose for your team? The game of volleyball is a little harder than you might think. People think that volleyball is just an intense game of “don’t let the balloon touch the floor”, a game that we used to play as kids, but I am going to prove that this fun game is harder than it seems.
First of all, everyone thinks the game of volleyball is so easy. Can you pass a ball to a foot wide target when is coming down at you at 60 miles per hour? Can you hold the responsibility to always get to a ball that is 40 feet away from you to set it to your breathtaking hitters? Can you jump above a 7 and a half foot tall net and hit a ball 60 miles per hour and keep it in control? No offense, but guys are normally the ones that think this sport is so easy.  They are the normally the ones that try to act tough and hit the ball fast, but out of bounds every time they try to hit it over the net. Also, don’t “talk the talk” before you “walk the walk”.
Secondly, people watch one volleyball game in 5th grade of their school volleyball team. All they see is passing, missed serve, passing, and miss serve. It seems boring to play and watch. It seems so easy to people. They carry this with them and continue to think that this game is so easy and boring. I hope that these people see a high school game soon. They will realize that it is much more intense and advanced than that.
In addition, volleyball might not involve a lot of running, but it does involve a lot more leg muscle than you think. You constantly have to be on your toes, bending your legs so it looks like you’re sitting on an invisible chair, you do this in defense, or passing. If you are a blocker, you also need to do something that some people call “coiling”, coiling is where you bend your legs so you are ready to jump up and block the ball. These are enormous reasons why volleyball is more intense than not letting a balloon touch the ground.
In conclusion, the game of volleyball is a lot more extreme than most people think. They need to watch a game that is more advanced than elementary school to start talking about how trouble-free it is. This is why volleyball is actually a very magnificent, enjoyable game that is intense and also has a lot of difficulties in it.

Thank You Friend

Authors note: In my Language Arts class, we read the short story, “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes. I ended up having to write an essay on what I predict would happen if this book would keep going.

I predict that the boy will not steel anymore, but he will work his way to getting money. He will also go out and buy the new pair of shoes using the money the large woman gave him. He will realize that steeling is not smart,  and there are other ways to get money. He will use this lesson and maybe be a good example around his own home. I think that because in the story it sounded like his parents didn’t really care about him. Another thing I think that will happen is the boy will probably see the large lady again in some point of his life, whether he is roaming the streets or if they even become friends,  he will thank her for what she has influenced on him.
Secondly the boy will come back one day and help the lady when she is old and unable to do the same things she used to be able to do. This way, the boy will earn money from the Old woman, and will stop stealing. But another concern is that I think the boy, sadly, might steel objects from the old woman while he is cleaning things. I think that he will end up becoming friends with this woman, or seeing her a lot. I predict that there will be happy ending for both the old woman and the young boy.

I predict card responce

I predict that the boy will not steel anymore, but he will work his way to getting money. He will also go out and buy the new pair of shoes using the money the large woman gave him. He will realize that steeling is dumb ad there are other ways to get money. He will use this lesson and maybe be a good example around his own home, since it seems that he has a weird family. The boy will probably see the large lady in the street again in some point of his life and thank her for what she has influenced on him in his life.

Realize before you criticize

Authors Note: I read a short story in Language arts and this is my repose to it. You should always respect what others say. Take it into consideration.

Have you ever made a bet with your friend and ended up losing in the end? You feel frustrated and embarrassed. This is how Mr.Obi felt in the book Dead mans path. In this book a man blocks off a pathway that is believed to be used for peoples loved ones to ravel through. One day a Priest comes and tried to encourage Mr.Obi not to block the path since its bothering the city. Mr. Obi does not agree with the priest. The priest said, "let the hawk perch and let the eagle perch" and walked out of the school.
First off, the famous quote said by the priest was, "Let the hawk perch and let the eagle perch". This quote means, let others believe what others believe even if you don’t agree. In this case, the Priest was the hawk and won the battle. Soon there after, the school got horrible reviews because people destroyed the gateway that he made to the path.
In conclusion, Mr.Obi shouldn’t have acted so ignorant towards the priest, because it messed up his whole life in the end. Even though talk is cheap, you should always take other peoples words into consideration. It could save you in the end.
